Xu Jianbai

Xu jianbai was born in Hang zhou of Zhe jiang province in 1925. She likes painting since little, in 1946, she graduated from Hangzhou Art Collage, then went to Nanjing to teach art. The next year, she went to USA to study art, she studied art in Kentucky and Chicago. In 1949, she returned to China to join the revolution, when she passed through Hongkong, she attended the world exhibition. In the same year, she went to Guangdong, Jiangxi and Hunan to teach and promote the political work. After Guangzhou liberated, she worked for the Guangdong Military control commission, as well as examining the UK-US movie which Guangzhou shows. In 1950, she was a teacher in South China literary arts institute, was once selected to be the First session of Deputy to the National People's Congress, Women's representative assembly representative, took part in the Land reform movement. In 1958, she worked for the Guangzhou Fine Art Institute. During the thirty-year teaching, she went to country village, fishing village to paint and communicate with people there. Paintings like < Female People's Liberation Army>, < old home commemoration>, < Young pioneer>, < 27 railroad workers strike greatly>, etc. Four of her arts were selected into the National Art Exhibition; three of them were collected by the national art museum. Moreover, lots of her arts were published on the news paper, magazines. She studied oil painting technique from Western Europe; she used Chinese and Europe style to paint her own feeling of life. She was one of the members of Chinese Art Association, the vice-president Art Association of Guangdong Province.
